Anklet Bracelets - Show Off Pretty Feet & Legs With Ankle Jewelry Bracelets
By viryabo
In ancient times, anklet bracelets was worn barefooted by men and women and for centuries has and still is used to adorn the ankles of married women in India, being an important jewellery for Indian marriages worn along with saris and other ornate jewels.
Ankle bracelets were worn by young maidens and women generally in Africa hundreds of years ago, and were generally worn in clusters on both feet.
By the late 20th century, more modern casual ankle chains that came smaller, feminine and more refined became popular in the western world and beyond.
Origin of Ankle Bracelets
The first known anklets was most probably made crudely in bronze during the era of the bronze age, and judging from the excavated relics found in the temperate zones of Europe, there is ample evidence that shows the importance of these ankle adornments at the time.
In the areas around the Alpines, roughly along the Danube and up the Rhine to the Atlantic, bronze anklet bracelets and similar items were found in large quantities, along with other bronze artefacts characteristic of the time around the year 1800 BC. These are attributable to the Tumulus culture that spread across this region at the time.
Today you will still find bronze anklets and other similar artefacts of ancient jewelry in the custody of the National Museum in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Popular Materials Used for Anklets
Anklet bracelets are beautiful pieces of feet jewelry and are made from a variety of materials ranging from the casual leather bracelets very popular amongst many young women (and a few men), to the more unique pieces like sterling silver anklets, gold, silver and beaded anklets. Other variations include PVC based, textile cords and nylon ankle bracelets.
There are also the trendy anklet charms strung on chains with little bells, flowers, tiny ornaments, miniature padlocks, animals etc... Having pretty charms dangling on an ankle chain looks very pretty and adds some touch of elegance to the legs and feet.
For a more matured and formal look, anklet jewelry bracelets are nicer as finer ornamental pieces made in gold , silver, sterling silver, or white gold chains with a bit of diamanté, beads or swarovski stones.
How to Enhance Your Ankles with Jewelry
Bracelets for the ankles look great when worn with flat sandals, slides or spike heel slippers. They are usually worn on the right foot though there is no hard and fast rule about this.
Where most westernised women like to wear their ankle bracelets on the left foot, in the Eastern and African cultures, anklets can be worn on either, or both ankles.
They make the legs appear longer and give an illusion of "flowing limbs" making the ankles look delicate and feminine and look divine when complemented with a pretty and simple toe ring.
If you have long slim legs you can wear anklet bracelets with attached charms or little busy gemstone works. With larger legs and feet, the thin lighter sized bracelets are more appropriate as they make legs more feminine while taking attention away from the size or length of legs, ankles and feet.

Thanks again Enelle. Love anything that, adds glamour to the wrists and ankles. So feminine and ladylike.
Anklets accentuate a nicely turned ankle much the same way bracelets add style and glamor to hands - absolutely love them - great hub!
