Pinky Rings Makes Hands Look Soft and Kind
By viryabo
Traditionally, signet rings have always been worn by men mainly in for ritual style ceremonies to show solidarity with for example, a society, or as a membership status of a group. One of the well known orders that wear signet or pinky rings are members of the 'Order of the Engineer', who wear steel or iron rings on their fourth finger.
During ceremonies like 'The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer', all engineers wear iron pinky rings to symbolize pride in their chosen profession, and humility in service to others. Members of the Engineering Order almost always wear signet rings as a symbol of their profession.
Wearing a signet ring is also is a mark of status shown mainly by the members of a Scottish clan. Their pinkie rings have unique detailing on them which indicates each individual's "rank and file" within the clan.
By the 1950's, pinkie rings became common fashion jewelry especially amongst the gay community, and by the 1970's it became an evident indicator of sexual orientation. Not any more because today, wearing pinky rings is no more a sign of sexual preferences.
After the seventies, jewelry rings for the pinky became fashionable, and was worn for the "soft" and pretty delicate look they gave the hands. They soon evolved into jewelry that sometimes looked intimidating and in many cases in almost obscene sizes. Good examples are the bling pinky rings with the bold $ (dollar) insignia, chunky lead-cut bruisers, stacked rings and even conversational piece designs featuring a winning hand of blackjack.
Why Pinky Rings are Popular
There is no special significance associated with wearing a pinky ring other than the typical motivations for fashion, where wearing rings is an essential part of fashion and style.
Men prefer to refer to them as signet rings and wear them to make a bold fashion statement. They are aware that they conjure a unique stylish look that seems to temper down the size of the masculine hand when worn.
Women on the other hand wear pinky rings to add style and glamour to the hands especially when the other fingers are uncluttered with rings save for the wedding and engagement rings.
Today the pinky ring is worn simply for fashion and it makes fashion and style statements for both genders, plus it can be regarded as a neutral way to accessorise.
Sizing Of Pinkie Jewelry Rings
Pinky rings are supposed to fit perfectly so sizing must be done carefully and accurately. This is because they are not meant to be switched between fingers like other finger jewelry.
The only way you can switch rings is if you have large or fatter fingers and if that’s the case you can switch other rings to the little finger meaning you can use rings intended for the other fingers as pinkie rings.

Your Views Are Welcome
This is stupid! I am a certified engineering technologist and we can ALSO wear a (different)ring on the little finger of the working hand -NOT a PINKY ring!! I am quite certain a professional engineer feels the same way about his ring.
I wish I had one of those rings in the videos. they are really beautiful.
Hi thecelt, thanks for stopping by and for your nice views.
Cheers
Personally for me it is a fashion statement. I only wish I had more fingers to put rings on. :)
Welcome back Suzie. I don't quite understand what you mean. I know different cultures may wear rings on different fingers symbolising one thing or the other about their antecendants, but today, wearing a ring on ones pinky tends towards more of a fashion statement than anything else.
Cheers and thanks for your visit.
Viryabo, Ive read several sites about what fingers we wear rings on and why we do. What do you think?I have some real feelings after reading these
Hi Suzie, thanks for stopping by. And for your comments. I've always felt pinky rings do make a great statement.
Cheers
Great post on pinky rings.Couple of years ago I bought a silver signet ring I wear on my pinky. Its a very simple design with 3 intials. It looks very similar to the ones you show. I like it because of its a a bold size on my finger, really makes a statement.
Hello Moonstone.
I agree with you because i'm a gemstone fanatic as well. And sometimes, the chunkier, the better. Thank you for your visit and nice comments.
GodBless
Another great pinky ring would be a small moonstone ring. Anyhow, I just love gemstone rings of all kinds!
Thanks for the visit and your nice comments Compu-smart.
Nice hub, tips and rings! I was in a jewellers in London just shopping for such a ring the other day, but could not find any appropriate ones! I used to wear a pinky ring, but lost it! The first ring above was extreamly similer!!

Hello "guest". Thanks for the visit. The good thing about life is the fact that each is entitled to his/her opinion. However, a pinky refers to the little finger and not the ring.
Cheers
