Winter weddings make the most beautiful wedding themes, and one of the best things about getting married at this time of the year is the gorgeous styles of bridal coats, shawls, wedding dress wraps and scarves that must be worn with bridal gowns, to provide some warmth for brides.

The cold season is drawing near, and soon it'll be winter, snowy and crisp cold in many areas of the northern hemisphere. Weddings planned for this season are aptly described as romantic winter weddings, the best time of the year to hold beautiful quixotic nuptials.

Winter brides need additional outerwear to keep warm on their way to the wedding event venues (church, registry, reception hall, outdoor garden, etc.), something elegant and chic to wrap around their shoulders, like cropped, short or long bridal coats, shrugs, shawls or bolero style winter covers.

For photo or video shoots taken outdoors, the bride must look her best, so should feel warm and look cosy. Wearing a gorgeously made wedding dress, with exposed backs, arms and chest look fine when everyone is indoors, but it’s always good to remember that there will be some aspect of being outside sometime or other during the wedding ceremony.

Bridal Coats and Warm Covers Inspired by Vintage

It is very trendy these days to have a ‘winter wonderland wedding’, and many brides, including the celebrities and stars are going for the vintage style wedding theme.

And for those who love a mix of the old with the new, you can add a dash of vintage to a modern wedding dress, by throwing a vintage styled bridal scarf over and round your shoulders; wear a faux fur wedding shawl or bridal coat, or adorn your gown with a satin Swarovski crystal encrusted bridal jacket with the fifties cut.

So what better way to follow the vintage trend, than to dress up those glamorous gowns with dramatic and chic warm bridal outer wear?

Warmth without 'Clutter'

Bridal coats must provide the bride the necessary warmth she needs without cluttering or clashing with an elaborately designed bridal gown.

Many bridal coats wraps, etc., designs are available in all kinds of wools, in cashmere wool blends, light-weight wools and lighter bridal fabrics such as double organza, satin, velvet and brocatelle, and most are designed to show the wedding dress off to perfection.

Adds Panache to Your Bridal Ensemble

Bridal capes, coats and wraps always adds flair and flamboyance to bridal wedding apparel, and whether it’s for the bride, the bridesmaids, maid of honour or the mother of the bride and groom, from the moment they step out of their homes, they must wear something warm, but breathtaking and stylish to complement their dresses or gowns to keep warm.

From home to the church (or registry), to the wedding reception, and on the way to the hotel, the airport or their honeymoon, winter brides need to wear bridal coats worthy of a winter wonderland wedding outfit. And like many of today’s wedding dresses, they are a purchase they can wear for a long time to come, especially for special occasions and events.

And there are beautiful vintage inspired styles available that will see bride through a wedding from autumn to spring, as long as they possess the following qualities associated with elegant bridal coats.

  • Full floor length wedding coats with trains for 'full blast' statements.
  • Bridal coats custom made to match the wedding dress.
  • Coats with elegant single button fastening that ensures the front of the bridal gown will show vividly.
  • Bridal shawl collar on bridal coats. This style provides double the warmth around the neck and shoulders.
  • Bridal coats with capes and faux fur trims fitted round the edges of the cape, and all the way down to the train.

Bridal coats, scarves, wraps, shrugs, jackets, shawls and the likes must add flair to a bride's outfit. It must be nearly as breathtaking as the dress itself, but in a 'quiet' and subtle way, if the dress is flamboyant, or in a flashy way, if worn over a simple wedding dress.

Something that’s elegant and complimentary, without clutter and unnecessary frills.
