Beautiful Christmas Cards Convey Beautiful Seasons Greetings At Xmas
70
From the days of old, beautiful Christmas cards have been exchanged between family, friends and business associates. At the time, the season's greeting cards were given out only by Christians, but today both Christians and non-Christians all over the world send out their greetings through messages printed, photographed, painted or illustrated on Christmas cards and postcards.
This quote, "It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air" by W.T. Ellis aptly describes the season's mood, and for centuries, men have maintained a date with Christmas. To the Christian world, xmas (a shortened form of the word Christmas) means companionship, camaraderie, association, feasting, celebrating, giving and receiving, a period of good cheer and being at home with family.
Traditionally, Christmas cards bore printed messages and greetings that were delivered by the mailman (the 'good old postman'), but today you will find that fewer cards and greeting are seldom delivered this way. It has almost become a dying culture.
Traditional and Modern Christmas Card Designs
Unlike traditional cards that expressed more religious sentiments and messages, usually with a prayer, poem, or Biblical verse, modern Christmas cards are secular, showing mostly Christmas traditions and figures like Santa Claus (Father Christmas), reindeer pulling a sleigh, snowmen, etc.
Some non religious Xmas cards illustrate melancholic scenes of the past era such as shoppers dressed in crinoline skirts in 19th century streetscapes; while others have humorous illustrations showing the antics of Santa Claus and his entourage.
Printed objects associated with beautiful Christmas card designs are red berries, holly, candles, baubles, and Christmas trees, including activities such like singing Christmas carols, shopping, and merrymaking.
There are other aspects such as pictures or illustrations of the season showing the snow and wildlife of the northern hemisphere.
Other Christmas card themes and activities include:
- The Nativity of Christ
- The Star of Bethlehem
- The White Dove of The Holy Spirit
- Fireworks
- Playing in the snow, snowmen and snowballs
- Vintage landscapes
- Christmas lights and decorations
- Christmas trees

Great Hub! Christmas cards are always a treasured part of the holiday season. One thing I want to add is that purchasing cards made from recycled materials is another eco-friendly choice.
I love getting Christmas cards...I have definitely seen a decrease in cards in the mail over the last few years as people now either text you a Merry Christmas message or send you a facebook message instead.
